Analyzing Human Search Behavior When Subjective Returns are Unobservable

چکیده
Abstract The exploration versus exploitation dilemma is a critical issue in human information acquisition and sequential belief formation, the multi-armed bandit problem has been widely used to address it. Because of its high descriptive accuracy, SGU model, which combines SoftMax type probabilistic selection, Gaussian process regression updating, upper confidence interval evaluation, attracted much attention. However, this model assumes that analyst access returns from people’s choices, but many realistic tasks, assumption cannot be made because only choices are observable. Moreover, subjective. authors introduce new model-fitting method overcomes barrier evaluates performance using data sets derived agent-based simulations real consumer data. This approach potential significantly broaden range issues can applied.

Enabling Opportunism: Revenue Sharing when Sales Revenues are Unobservable
W e consider a supply chain with a supplier that sells to a retailer under a revenue-sharing arrangement. Demand is uncertain and unobservable to the supplier. We assume that the retailer is rational, that is, the retailer behaves opportunistically and underreports sales revenues to the supplier whenever such underreporting is profitable. Assuming the supplier has the ability to audit the retai...
متن کاملIntertemporal Asset Allocation when the Underlying Factors are unobservable
The aim of this paper is to develop an optimal long-term bond investment strategy which can be applied to real market situations. This paper employs Merton’s intertemporal framework to accommodate the features of a stochastic interest rate and the time-varying dynamics of bond returns. The long-term investors encounter a partial information problem where they can only observe the market bond pr...
متن کاملEstimating Promotion Response When Competitive Promotions Are Unobservable
This study addresses a problem commonly encountered by marketers who attempt to assess the impact of their sales promotions: the lack of data on competitive marketing activity. In most industries, competing firms may have competitive sales data from syndicated services or trade organizations, but seldom have access to data on competitive promotions except, if any, at a high level of aggregation...

Modelling Realized Variance when Returns are Serially Correlated by Roel C. A. Oomen* This article examines the impact of serial correlation in high frequency returns on the realized variance measure. In particular, it is shown that the realized variance measure yields a biased estimate of the conditional return variance when returns are serially correlated. Using 10 years of FTSE-100 minute by...
متن کاملPricing When Underlying Stock Returns Are Discontinuous
The validity of the classic Black-Scholes option pricing formula dcpcnds on the capability of investors to follow a dynamic portfolio strategy in the stock that replicates the payoff structure to the option. The critical assumption required for such a strategy to be feasible, is that the underlying stock return dynamics can be described by a stochastic process with a continuous sample path. In ...
